Book Signing with Ruth Rogers at Gagosian Shop

Book Signing at Gagosian Shop

Wednesday, April 18, 4:30–5:45pm
Gagosian is pleased to announce a book signing with Ruth Rogers and co-author Sian Wyn Owen to celebrate River Cafe London: Thirty Years of Recipes and the Story of a Much-Loved Restaurant, published by Knopf, April 2018. To attend the event, RSVP to rivercafe@gagosian.com.
With River Cafe London, Rogers and her restaurant’s head chefs, Joseph Trivelli and Sian Wyn Owen, invite you to join them in marking thirty years of memories and good food—the simple, high-quality Italian cooking that London’s River Cafe has been providing since 1987. Together Rogers and her co-founder, Rose Gray, helped to shape the way we eat, trained a new generation of chefs, and, with their best-selling cookbooks, transformed the way we prepare Italian food at home.
The book features 120 recipes for incomparable antipasti, primi, secondi, contorni, and dolci—both revised and updated favorites from Ruth and Rose’s first cookbook, as well as thirty new classics from their menus today: ravioli with ricotta, raw tomato, and basil; spaghetti with lemon; risotto Nero with swiss chard; pork braised with vinegar; and, of course, their famous chocolate nemesis cake.
River Cafe London also incorporates Ruth’s memories of the restaurant’s storied history and of its founding, previously unpublished archival images, careful cooking tips and hand-drawn illustrations, new photography by Jean Pigozzi and Matthew Donaldson, and bespoke menu designs from the restaurant’s many artist friends. This beautiful cookbook encapsulates the essence of the restaurant and its food—and is a must-have for all food lovers.

About Ruth Rogers
Ruth Rogers and the late Rose Gray are the creators of London’s enormously successful River Cafe, which they founded together in 1987. Ruth and Rose published their first cookbook, The River Cafe Cookbook, in 1995, followed by ten more cookbooks, all of which have been bestsellers. The authors also hosted a twelve-part television series, The Italian Kitchen. Visit their website at rivercafe.co.uk.
The idea for the River Cafe first emerged when Ruth’s husband, architect Richard Rogers, set up his new practice in the converted warehouses at Thames Wharf. Planning restrictions from the local council meant the restaurant was only allowed to serve lunch to the people working in the complex but over time, as the opening hours were extended, the restaurant grew. Since its opening in 1987, the River Cafe has received numerous accolades, including a Michelin star in 1997, which it has since retained.
