Cayena – Tropical Couture
For Spring 2016, Angel Sanchez recreated a tropical garden, filled with light, dramatic shapes and color.
Inspired
by the exuberant flower of the Caribbean; the Cayena – also known as
the Hibiscus, its intense color palette lends itself to Angel’s usage of
grass green, citrus yellow, mango orange and fuchsia. White was used
as a symbol of the purity of the islands. Sanchez utilized unique
fabrics, such as leather and acrylic to craft delicate floral detailing –
the only adornment needed for his bold silhouettes.
Notable
ensembles included a white strapless jumpsuit, the bodice shaped like
flower petals, a white and fuchsia floral printed silk gazar tea length
dress and a green silk gauze gown that floated on air.
Guests included; Fear the Walking Dead’s Mercedes Masohn, Beth Ostrosky Stern, Girl Meets World’s Sabrina Carpenter, actress and writer Cara Santana, opera legend Renee Fleming, Miss Universe Paulina Vega and the upcoming 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi’s David Denman.
