In keeping with its tradition as a privileged partner of the art world, Le Bristol Paris renews its cutting-edge contemporary art program in collaboration with the Galerie Perrotin. For nearly three years Le Bristol Paris has been organizing important encounters around the most demanding contemporary works of art, inviting leading contemporary artists to exhibit their work on the bar’s video screen. From March 11 to April 25, Le Bar du Bristol’s mirror is illuminated every night by the glow of video works specially selected by Galerie Perrotin. For this carte blanche screening, Galerie Perrotin will present videos by Ivan Argote, Elmgreen & Dragset, Laurent Grasso, John Henderson, Jesper Just, JR, Gianni Motti, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Michael Sailstorfer and Xavier Veilhan. The selection underscores its eclecticism with the atmospheric narratives of Danish artist Jesper Just, the mischievous and engaged works of the young Colombian artist Ivan Argote and Laurent Grasso’s mysterious and magnetic works. The artist JR will present “Rivages,” a poignantly scored black-and-white film portraying dockworkers in Le Havre. The duo Elmgreen & Dragset will present the France debut of “The Old World,” a video which decor is their latest exhibition at Galerie Perrotin, Hong Kong, where the camera becomes an observer of the gallery observers as they view the sculptures on display, blurring the lines between direct and symbolic representation. Xavier Veilhan, whose work will be on display at Galerie Perrotin, Paris until April 11 and New York until April 8, in a solo exhibition titled “Music,” returns to Le Bar du Bristol to present four videos combining dance and architecture. Michael Sailstorfer, John Henderson, Gianni Motti, Jean-Michel Othoniel all present rare and little-known films. “L’art au Bar du Bristol ” also offers an opportunity to discover an enticing menu of cocktails prepared by head barman Maxime Hœrth, Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsman of France) 2011, accompanied by a variety of tapas designed by three-star chef Eric Frechon for an exceptional moment of conviviality in a warm and elegant setting. 1.
