Beauty Diaries: Christie Brinkley

BEAUTY DIARIES: CHRISTIE BRINKLEY

The genetically blessed model and mother of three remains taut and toned thanks to years of rigorous exercise and a strict vegetarian diet.

DIET "I haven't touched a piece of meat since I read a graphic description of Chicago's slaughterhouses when I was 12. Over the years I've gone through all the varying phases, but currently I'm a vegetarian who doesn't eat fish or dairy except for goat's and sheep's milk. My great luxury in life is my private chef, who is trained in healthy cooking." BREAKFAST: "Every morning I make myself a cappuccino with a drawing in the foam. I post them to Instagram with the hashtag #christiecappuccino. I have sheep's-milk yogurt from Old Chatham Sheepherding Company mixed with organic blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, papaya, chia seeds, raw oatmeal, and walnuts. If I want protein, I'll have an egg-white omelet with spinach and mushrooms." LUNCH: "I always have a salad with whatever grain or bean was left over from dinner piled on top. In the afternoon my chef prepares fresh juice with kale, lime juice, orange juice, and avocado, or I snack on my homemade pumpkin-seed mix made with Himalayan salt, walnuts, Brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, and dried raisins." DINNER: "My favorite dish is brown rice with lentils, roasted red and yellow peppers, and fennel, with a sweet potato and a salad on the side. When I go out I love all my local Hamptons spots—Sant Ambroeus for asparagi freddi, and the Beacon's meat-free stuffed mushroom. I like a glass of red wine with dinner because it doesn't interfere with my sleep." SPLURGES: "A piece of a Gnosis Pom Açai raw chocolate bar every day."
FITNESS "Everyone asks if I really use the Total Gym, and I do! It's perfect for stretching and lengthening my body. Last summer I got into SoulCycle, and in the winter I do yoga at Yoga Shanti. I enjoy bicycling, paddleboarding, surfing, skiing, and swimming too."
SKIN CARE "My routine is very simple: I cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize. I use Olay's Regeneristline and Clarins neck cream [$86], and I'm religious about wearing sunscreen daily. When I started modeling I was told to tan, but I always protected my face. Right now I use an SPF I'm formulating for my own skin-care line that I hope will be available in six months. I used to be big on fruit acid facials, but my skin is really clear these days. I also drink tons of water to keep my skin hydrated."
MAKEUP "I love playing with makeup. For my day-to-day look, I go with neutral and golden tones to warm up my skin. I start with primer to fill in any lines and give my makeup staying power, then apply Giorgio Armani foundation [$62] and Nars Illuminator [$30]. On my eyes I wear brown liner and black mascara from Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, or Nars. I like nude glosses like Bobbi Brown in Bronzed Heather [$24], but when I want my lips to look huge, I line them with Laura Mercier Lip Liner in Chestnut [$22] and apply one of Tom Ford's pale lipsticks. If I'm going to an event, I'll add lots of individual false lashes and wear a '60s cat eye with liquid liner. I have no patience for salon manicures and pedicures, so I do them myself. I stick to pale colors on my fingers and red on my toes from Essie or Deborah Lippmann."
HAIR "When I was starting out in the business, my hair was so thick I could barely wrap a rubber band around it, but with each pregnancy it became thinner. It's never returned to what it once was, which is why I clip in my Hair2wear extensions when I go out; they instantly give me thicker hair. I shampoo and condition every other day with Fekkai Salon Technician Color Care, apply a root volumizer from Pantene Pro-V or Kérastase Paris, and rough-dry my hair upside down. When I was younger I used Sun-In and lemon juice to brighten up my blonde color. Now I see Sharon Dorram in New York City every six to eight weeks."
BODY "I get a deep-tissue massage at my home every Sunday night. Epsom salt baths are relaxing for me as well. When I was performing in Chicago, I would take one every night, but now it's closer to once a month. I exfoliate my body from top to bottom; that's my thing. I've been trying samples of every kind of exfoliator available, and my goal is to create the best one out there. I moisturize with Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Soufflé Body Crème [$55], and I receive so many compliments on the scent that I also wear it as my fragrance."
