Venice Biennale: 55th International Art Exhibition "Il Palazzo Enciclopedico" ( The Enciclopedic Palace)' Venice , Giardini and Arsenale, June 1/ Nov 24,2013

The 55th International Art Exhibion entitled "Il Palazzo Enciclopedico" was curated by Massimiliano Fioni and organized by la Biennale di Venezia chaired by Paolo Baratta, the preview was on May 29th and the award ceremony and inauguration took place in a festive Venice on Saturday June 1st where artists, gallerists, maisons de mode, collectors, got together to celebrate and enjoy art.

88 countries will be exhibiting their shows in the different Historical Pavillions at the Giardini, Arsenale and the city of Venice.

10 countries are participating for the first time: Bahamas, Angola,Kuwait,Paraguay among others. The Exhibition draws inspiration from the model of a utopian dream by Marino Auriti who filed a design with the U.S patent office in 1955 , depicting his Palazzo Enciclopedico( The Enciclopedic Palace), an imaginary museum that was meant to house worldly knowledge. Auritis plan was never carried out staying as a Utopia.

Il Palazzo Enciclopedico investigates the desire to see and know everything: it is a show about  obsessions and about the transformative power of the imagination.
