NEW YORK Fashion Week kicks off this week,
which means it's time to get to grips with the city - and the
gossip - once again. Amid heated discussion about the future of
fashion weeks, Rihanna's seeking to trump Kanye West with her Puma
reveal; Kanye West is seeking to trump Rihanna by live-streaming
his Yeezy Season 3 show on and Tom Ford has tagged out altogether,
cancelling his New York presentation in favour of adopting the
"see-now-buy-now" model. Then there's the socialising: where to go,
what to do, who to see and what to eat? Here's
Vogue's round up of New York Fashion Week's best talking
points and watering holes.
Rihanna
With
two milestones under her belt already this month - her leaked new album
ANTI is platinum, and she is the first artist in Gold & Platinum
history to earn 100 million song awards - Rihanna's onto her next tick
box: launch a new collection at New York Fashion Week. Having been made
the creative director of Puma last year, she's set to give a catwalk
show of the autumn/winter 2016 collection this week.
Kanye West
Kanye
West's last Yeezy collection featured a drill sergeant who whipped
Spanx-clad models into line and the fashion crowd into a frenzy. This
season he's booked out Madison Square Garden, is releasing his
collection in parallel with a new album, and doing the seating plan as I
type. Expect a full fash-off.
Margaux at the Marlton Hotel
Cocktails
at the Marlton are always on the menu for the Brit crowd in NYC,
seeking solace in the quiet confines of the hotel that once served as a
bolthole for Jack Kerouac whilst he was working on the manuscripts for
On The Road and The Subterraneans. Keep it classy with a Negroni at the

Eckhaus Latta
Amid
the celebrity star sprinkles are some up-and-comers. We'll be checking
out Eckhaus Latta, the avant-garde duo who occupy the cool, peripheral
niche on the edge of the NYFW schedule and frequently cast their friends
in their shows.
David Bowie
One
trend you're going to see a lot of this season: Bowie. Saint Laurent
kicked off preceedings with his "womenswear part one" show in LA on
February 10, showing autumn/winter 2016 clothes with a distinctly
Starman flavour. Expect lashings of marabou, psychedelic prints and
glitter galore as fashion salutes the ultimate showman.
Maria Tash
The
best post-show jolt? A piercing, obviously. The fashion crowd get their
cartilage pimped at Maria Tash's salon at 653 Broadway. This woman's so
skilled she was hired to help Harrison Ford pierce Jimmy Kimmel's live
on TV - a ringing endorsement if ever we heard one.

Peter
Copping's inspiration hub for last season's Oscar de La Renta show is a
genuine hidden gem in Harlem, with only around 200 visitors per week
currently enjoying the Goya and El Greco on offer. Head straight to the

immaculately crafted clothes in exaggerated proportions are Rosie
Assoulin's calling card. With Solange Knowles as her unofficial poster
girl, we'll be picking out looks for the singer from Assoulin's

The Edition
The
lobby never sleeps here, but if you're after a good kip you could do
worse than to bed down at the New York brand of the Edition Hotel. Add
the Michelin-starred executive chef Jason Atherton and the majestic
views of the city and you're sorted.
